Explore peptide research

Start with a compound, then follow the source. Each guide identifies the experimental model, what was measured and what the result cannot establish.

Read the evidence in three steps

01 — Identify the model. Cell culture, animal experiments and human trials answer different questions.

02 — Name the endpoint. A molecular marker is not automatically a functional or clinical outcome.

03 — Check the material. A published paper does not authenticate a commercial lot. Review the exact identity, analytical method and traceability.

Use the research reading guides

The analytical glossary

A concise vocabulary for reading peptide characterization and research methods.

Peptide and residue

Peptides contain amino-acid units joined through amide linkages. A residue is the part incorporated into a chain after the bond-forming loss of the elements of water. IUPAC provides the formal definitions.

Chromatography and chromatogram

Chromatography separates components through their distribution between stationary and mobile phases. A chromatogram records a detector response during separation. Interpret each peak in the context of the method.

Mass spectrometry and tandem MS

Mass spectrometry characterizes ions through mass-to-charge information. Tandem methods examine selected ions and fragmentation relationships. Assignments depend on method, reference information and interpretation.

Identity, purity and traceability

Ask what the material is, what a method detects alongside it, and whether the evidence connects to the exact sample. A single headline number does not answer all three questions.
